Job summary

WSP in Vancouver is seeking an Environmental Technician Co-op to contribute to water treatment projects, gaining hands-on experience and learning from a team of professionals. You will support sampling, design analysis, and technical reporting while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

The role offers a hybrid work environment, with on-site sampling and office-based tasks, ideal for students in Chemical or Environmental Engineering to grow in the water treatment field.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering degree.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of water and wastewater terminology and technologies is asset.
• Knowledge of water chemistry is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• You are curious, collaborative, organized, and eager to gain hands-on experience in the water treatment industry.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate sampling programs for wastewater systems in BC coastal Indigenous communities.
• Support the analysis and design of water treatment projects, including process and technology selection, equipment sizing and specifications, process modelling, mass balances, hydraulic analysis, and 3D layouts.
• Assist with the preparation of technical reports, proposals, specifications, process schematics, and layout drawings.
• Coordinate with vendors and other project stakeholders.
• Collaborate with a diverse team and build strong relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
• Participate in occasional on-site sampling and laboratory testing.
• Work in a hybrid environment, balancing time between remote and office-based work.
