Job summary
Imperial is seeking students for January or May 2027 co-op opportunities in Upstream Civil Engineering (Water & Geotech) at our Calgary location. You will work with experienced engineers on surface water infrastructure, hydrology modeling, slope stability, and geotechnical investigations at the Kearl site.
You will gain hands-on experience across office and field environments, receive mentorship, and contribute to real projects that support sustainable energy development in Canada.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil, Geological, Geotechnical, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, or related discipline
- Available for January or May 2027 work term
- Returning to full-time studies after term
- Demonstrated leadership and strong academic performance
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safety and Indigenous relations principles
- Transcript(s) must be submitted with application
Responsibilities
- Support design, monitoring and performance assessment of water resources projects at the Kearl site
- Assist with drainage catchment definition and hydrologic modeling
- Contribute to geotechnical investigations and slope stability assessments
- Collaborate with engineers and field teams on tailings and earthworks
- Prepare technical reports and document findings
- Support office-based analysis and field observations
