Job summary

Thompson Construction Group has immediate openings for Water and Sewer Pipe Layers supporting our Infrastructure division’s land development and subdivision projects in the Edmonton area.

Responsibilities include coordinating with an Excavator Operator, installing pipes and manholes, and ensuring proper backfill while adhering to safety policies. This role expects physical work outdoors and potential long shifts, Monday through Saturday.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the water and sewer industry.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Reliable transportation to and from site.
• Ability to work extended hours, including up to 12 hours per day, Monday to Saturday.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is an asset.
• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work.

• Install graded pipe, manholes, catch basins and related structures.
• Install pressurized pipe and fittings including valves, tees, bends, hydrants.
• Install service pipes.
• Monitor and ensure backfill of installed pipe.
• Expose existing utilities.
• Participate in daily safety meetings and follow safety policies.
• Report all incidents, near misses and equipment damage to site supervision.
• Maintain effective communication with supervisors and crew members.
• Work collaboratively as part of a construction crew to meet project timelines.
