Job summary

Autismservices in Prince Albert is inviting applications for a seasonal position of Water/Sewer Labourer within the Public Works Department. The successful candidate will be involved in construction, maintenance, and repair work related to wastewater collection and water distribution systems.

Position Overview

The City of Prince Albert invites applications for a seasonal position of Water/Sewer Labourer (Collection/Distribution) in the Public Works Department. This role is responsible for performing work involving the construction, maintenance and repair operations related to the wastewater collection and water distribution systems.

Required Qualifications

• Entry Level: Grade 12, Driver's License
• Level I: Within the first 6 months must write and pass Class I Certification in Water Distribution Exam, Equipment Operator certification, Fireman's Certification or Hoisting and Rigging Certification.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of labouring tasks in Collection/Distribution construction, maintenance and repair operations.
• Uses equipment and material for thawing and freezing distribution systems.
• Uses equipment and material in flushing and cleaning collection systems.
• Assists in street isolation during construction and maintenance operations.
• Performs distribution system flushing operations.
• Assists in isolation and repair of water main breaks.
• Maintains log of service and maintenance work.
• Assists in the set up of batter boards.
• Ability to operate all types of hydrants.
• Ability to deal effectively with the general public and co-workers.
• Ability to work with concrete.
