Job summary

Halifax Water in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is seeking an experienced Supervisor of Wastewater Treatment to lead daily operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance across our treatment facilities. You will manage performance, safety, and budget, directing union staff and coordinating with labs and contractors.

The role requires a two-year technical program or equivalent, a Level III NS certification, and at least five years of related supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Two-year community college technical program applicable to Water or Wastewater Treatment or related discipline; Level III Nova Scotia certification or equivalent.
• Five years related experience in wastewater treatment with supervisory ability.
• Combination of industry recognized wastewater treatment, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or instrumentation training and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day facility infrastructure and performance to meet regulatory discharge parameters.
• Direct and schedule repairs or upgrades, maintenance programs, and equipment upgrades.
• Oversee facility laboratory management, QA/QC implementation, and staff training.
• Participate in budgeting, procurement, and contract specifications for facility equipment and services.
• Supervise staff, conduct appraisals, and coordinate with union employees.
• Prepare detailed technical, operational, and financial reports for senior management and regulators.
