Job summary

ALS is seeking a Warehouse Technician 1 to support warehouse functions at the lab. You will prepare packaging for shipments, retrieve samples with a forklift, and assist with inventory control and client invoicing.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12 diploma; forklift license is an asset.
• Some warehouse and shipping/receiving experience is an asset.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately and thoroughly.
• Basic verbal English communication and reading skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare packaging for outgoing shipments of pulp samples and rejects.
• Sort, locate and retrieve samples using forklift.
• Assist with inventory control and storage of pulp and rejects.
• Ensure sample records and supplies are complete and accurate.
• Conduct local deliveries and pickups as needed.
• Provide inventory counts for client invoicing.
• Support general shipping, receiving and warehousing functions.
• Observe safety procedures and ALS policies.
• Support clients and other ALS branches as needed.

At ALS, we encourage you to dream big.When you join us, you’ll be part of a global team harnessing the power of scientific testing and data-driven insights to build a healthier future.Location ALS GeochemistryReports to: Warehouse Manager or Lab ManagerAbout the Position:The Warehouse Technician 1 will support the warehouse functions within the lab.Specific Responsibilities• Prepare packaging for outgoing shipments of pulp samples and rejects;• Sorting, locating and retrieving sample pulp and rejects from the warehouse facility using forklift;• Assist with inventory control, pulp and reject storage, disposal and return to clients in a timelymanner;• Ensure sample records and supplies are complete and accurate;• Conduct local deliveries and pick-ups as needed;• Provide inventory count to invoice clients for their pulp and reject storage;• General shipping, receiving and supplies warehousing functions as needed;• Provides assistance to clients and other ALS Branches when necessary;• Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuringanalytical quality;• Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies andprocedures;• Other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities• Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately and thoroughly;• Ability to work within a fast-paced, high volume environment;• Basic computer skills in using keyboard, mouse, internet, etc.;• Basic verbal English communication skills and ability to read English;• Ability to work within a team environment;• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Required Qualifications• Grade 12 diploma preferred;• Forklift license and experience operating a forklift an asset (on site certification will be required);• Some Warehouse and Shipping & Receiving experience an asset.Physical Demands• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds;• Extensive walking or movement, bending, kneeling, and working with machines• Frequently wearing a dust mask;• Comfortable in environments with high noise levels;• Ability to sit and/or stand for a full shift;• Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks;Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.Our Benefits IncludeAn estimated hourly pay of $21.39 CAD at the time of posting.
