Job summary

Wakefield Canada Inc. is seeking a Warehouse Operator (AM Shift) to join our plant and warehouse team in Mississauga. The role loads/unloads vehicles, processes customer orders and stock transfers, and participates in inventory cycle counting to maintain accuracy and efficiency.

The successful candidate will ensure safety and compliance during daily operations. AM shift runs 7:00AM–3:30PM with overtime as needed to meet demand.

Qualifications

  • Forklift operation and safety awareness required.
  • Strong inventory control and accuracy for orders and transfers.
  • Team player with good communication; able to work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload vehicles to support efficient turnaround times.
  • Participate in inventory cycle counting and warehouse control.
  • Provide periodic support for the Receiver function and housekeeping.
  • Coordinate with shipping coordinators to organize shipments.

Job description

Job Summary:

The Warehouse Operator (AM Shift) works within a collaborative team and plays a key role in ensuring customer orders and stock transfers are processed effectively. The Warehouse Operator loads and unloads vehicles to ensure efficient turnaround times within the warehouse to address Wakefield's business needs.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Pick and process customer orders and Wakefield/Castrol stock transfers.
  • Load and unload vehicles.
  • Fill and/or decant totes in plant or warehouse
  • Participate in warehouse control and inventory cycle counting.
  • Periodic support for the Receiver function.
  • Warehouse housekeeping as required.
  • Attend Safety and Compliance Seminars and constantly strive to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Perform the required recommended forklift inspection procedures.
  • Liaise with shipping coordinators as required.
  • Liaise with Warehouse and Distribution Managers and organize packaged goods shipments using Wakefield fleets or outside carriers.
  • Receive and follow direction from the Warehouse Lead Hand as needed.
  • Support and promote the adherence to all Wakefield policies and procedures.
  • Special projects and participation as required.

  • Good physical condition as the job requires lifting case goods up to 60 pounds and moving drum stock weighing approximately 450 pounds.

  • Familiarity with all work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to work overtime daily or as may be required to meet work demands.
  • Able to acquire the skills required to successfully demonstrate proficiency in Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods & US DOT regulations.
  • Able to acquire the skills required to successfully demonstrate proficiency in internet navigation and it is desirable to have some PC skills or the aptitude to be trained.

Education / Experience:
  • High school or equivalent is required and will have good reading comprehension in addition to writing and mathematical skills.
  • Previous related warehouse experience
  • Experience with Warehouse Management System
  • Valid forklift license(s) - Propane Counterbalance / Reach Truck
  • Lift truck experience with valid lift truck certification training or ability to obtain
  • LOTO - Lock Out & Tag Out training
Working Conditions:
  • Unionized role
  • AM Shift: 7:00AM - 3:30PM. Hours of work may vary according to operational needs such as production demands, fluctuating workloads, vacations, and absences, etc.
  • Plant and Warehouse environment with periodic outdoor work.
