Job summary

Canadian Tire in Ontario is seeking a Warehouse Manager to lead the warehouse team and ensure efficient operations from receiving to store floor, with safety and accuracy.

You will manage schedules, train staff, maintain stock integrity, and cooperate with store leadership to deliver great customer service and a smooth flow of merchandise.

Qualifications

  • Supervisory/managerial experience in warehousing or logistics.
  • Experience in warehouse operations from receiving to retail floor.
  • Forklift certification is an asset.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices.
  • Ability to plan, delegate, and monitor team activities.
  • Proven track record of achieving productivity goals.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Experience with Automated Warehouse Systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain warehouse presentation quality through daily inspections.
  • Oversee safe and efficient receiving, storage and placement of goods.
  • Monitor damages, shortages, overages, and returns records.
  • Coordinate recycling and waste disposal on time.
  • Support team in daily operations to meet productivity targets.
  • Plan daily/weekly department activities and seasonal changes.
  • Train, supervise, coach and motivate staff.
  • Manage performance and provide feedback, recognizing achievements.
  • Prepare schedules meeting business needs within budget.
  • Assist in store opening/closing responsibilities.
  • Assist in hiring and orientation of new staff.
  • Resolve issues to ensure customer and employee satisfaction.
  • Ensure Health and Safety compliance.

Job summary

As a member of the store’s Management Team, the Warehouse Manager is responsible for managing and leading the warehouse team by ensuring that the department operates efficiently with friendly and informed staff. Reporting to the Store Manager/General Manager, this role ensures the smooth flow of merchandise from the back door to the customer, and involves constant handling of merchandise that varies in weight from light to heavy throughout the shift.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the quality of the warehouse presentation through daily inspections.
  • Manage the safe and efficient delivery, storage and placement of merchandise from the truck into the warehouse and/or onto the retail floor.
  • Monitor accurate records of damages, shortages, overages, claims and returns on all incoming merchandise and outgoing returns.
  • Manage the timely pick up of all recycled products and waste.
  • Assist team members in daily operations in order to meet established productivity goals.
  • Plan and manage daily/weekly departmental activities, objectives and seasonal changeovers.
  • Train, supervise, assist, coach, encourage, motivate, inspire and support team members in their departmental operations.
  • Manage team members’ performance, provide informal and constructive feedback, and recognize achievements and efforts.
  • Prepare work schedules that meets business needs while working within budget guidelines.
  • Help with the store opening and closing responsibilities.
  • Assist in selecting and orientating new employees.
  • Resolve issues and conflicts while ensuring customer satisfaction and employee satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
Requirements / Skills
  • Supervisory, leadership and/or managerial experience or relevant experience
  • Proven experience in logistics
  • Trained in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • Ability to work shifts (days, evenings, weekends, and holidays)
  • Ability to plan, organize, communicate, delegate and follow up team’s activities and projects
  • Results-oriented
  • Ability to handle physical demands including standing/walking for 8 hours while frequently lifting and carrying items, using a ladder, twisting, turning and reaching
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to find solutions to problems, adapt and cope with challenging situations and make difficult decisions
  • Experience in a warehouse/distribution environment (asset)
  • Certification in forklift and/or skyjack (scissor lift) (asset)
  • Experience in using Automated Warehouse Systems (asset)
  • This is a Full Time job, availability Mon-Sun shifts depending on Warehouse schedule
