Job summary

Staples Canada is hiring a Warehouse Associate in Calgary to support inbound and outbound furniture operations. You will help with receiving, put away, staging, loading, and shipping, assemble make-ready furniture, and prepare delivery paperwork while coordinating with carriers and providing customer service. Shift is Monday–Friday, 7am–3:30pm.

Specifically, You Will

• Assists in the preparations for delivery of furniture orders through warehouse procedures.
• Pre-loading of product for delivery, utilizing the manifest and our schedule provided.
• Assist in the assembly and set up any furniture as required.
• Inform manager/lead hand of outstanding issues.
• Maintain cleanliness of warehouse and report any maintenance problems to manager/lead hand.
• Supports inbound and outbound furniture operations.
• Receives vendor purchase orders, regular lines, special orders, or customer returns.
• Performs inventory counts and location lookups.
• Follows processes to report common daily discrepancies or issues (i.e., shortages, damage) to supervisor or order management.
• Monitors and ensures task completion within shift.
• Picks and stages outbound orders as necessary on day shift.
• Performs a variety of lookups and research to support functional areas.
• Performs the following non-system inbound and outbound tasks.
• Separates and labels product received, stocks product into identified locations verifying SKU and quantity accuracy.
• Assembles make-ready furniture and stages for delivery.
• Coordinates with Furniture Sales Support to resolve items received that are not on purchase order.
• Completes Receiving Discrepancy Tickets when vendor shipment is inaccurate.
• Picks and stocks products to complete replenishment tasks.
• Picks product for customer orders ensuring quantity and unit-of-measure (UOM) picked is equal to quantity and UOM ordered.
• Checks SKU and quantities picked for customer orders to ensure accuracy, and re-packages or wrap orders as needed.
• Sorts and loads customer orders by route and delivery order.
• May schedule vendor shipments.
• Participate in all scheduled physical inventories.
• Performs basic housekeeping in assigned areas of warehouse.
• Adheres to all safety procedures in the performance of job duties.
• Maintain current certifications on all power equipment as prescribed by the supervisor.

Some Of What You Need

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Need to have good computer, math, writing and reading skills.
• Minimum three (3) months’ related experience in a warehouse environment required, or any equivalent combination of acceptable training, education, and experience.
• Job requires the ability to become certified in the operation of warehouse equipment.
• CFS knowledge desired.
• Furniture product knowledge desired.
• Prior experience operating warehouse equipment, such as forklift, pallet jack and cherry picker preferred.

Physical Demands/working Conditions

• Work requires physical effort and use of motor skills requiring manual dexterity.
• While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push/pull, or balance weight for extended periods of time.
• The employee must frequently lift, move, and/or carry between 70 to 100 pounds.
• With mechanical assistance, employees will occasionally move up to 300 pounds.
• Will regularly operate warehouse equipment that requires manual dexterity and use of lightweight tools requiring some coordinated movements.
• Activities include using a forklift or pallet jack to move furniture and lightweight tools to assemble furniture.
