Job summary

Staples Canada is seeking a Furniture Warehouse Lead to support inbound/outbound furniture operations. You will organize receiving, staging, and shipping while providing direction to warehouse staff and ensuring accuracy of orders.

This full-time role requires forklift/equipment experience, basic math and PC skills, and a high school diploma. Expect a 7am–3:30pm schedule with an $18.70/hour minimum, plus benefits and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• A minimum of twelve (12) months related experience in a warehouse environment.
• Good PC, math, writing and reading abilities.
• Ability to become certified in the operation of warehouse equipment.
• Prior experience operating warehouse equipment such as forklift, pallet jack and cherry picker.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inventory, and process vendor orders, returns, and shipments.
• Prepare and stage orders for delivery and replenishment.
• Train and provide work direction to Furniture Warehouse Associates.
• Perform lookups, discrepancies reporting, and assist in warehouse optimization.
• Maintain safety, housekeeping, and adherence to procedures.
• Support inventory counts and coordinate with sales support and accounts payable.

Shift Time: Full-time, 7am-3:30pm

Wage: $18.70 per hour Minimum

Some of what you will do:

Performs manual and system tasks to support inbound and outbound furniture operations. Identifies and resolves issues in various functional areas; put away, staging, loading, shipping. Supports and assembles “make ready” furniture to support efficient warehouse processing and maximize warehouse space usage. Assists in providing work direction and training to Furniture Warehouse Associates. Performs work under the direction of warehouse supervisor or manager.

Provides work direction in assigned area while performing the same tasks as those directing. Trains less experienced furniture warehouse associates in assigned area on proper methods and procedures.

• Receives vendor purchase orders, regular lines, special orders, or customer returns.
• Performs inventory counts and location lookups.
• Follows processes to report common daily discrepancies or issues (i.e., shortages, damage) to supervisor or order management.
• Monitors and ensures CFS task completion within shift.
• Picks and stages outbound orders as necessary on day shift.
• Performs a variety of lookups and research to support functional areas.
• Communicates non-routine CFS system issues to Application Support and/or management.

Performs the following non-system inbound and outbound tasks.

• Separates and labels product received, stocks product into identified locations verifying SKU and quantity accuracy.
• Assembles make-ready furniture and stages for delivery.
• Coordinates with Furniture Sales Support to resolve items received that are not on purchase order.
• Completes Receiving Discrepancy Tickets when vendor shipment is inaccurate. Informs Furniture Sales Support and Accounts Payable.
• Picks and stocks product to complete replenishment tasks.
• Picks product for customer orders ensuring quantity and unit-of-measure (UOM) picked is equal to quantity and UOM ordered.
• Checks SKU and quantities picked for customer orders to ensure accuracy, and re-packages or wraps orders as needed.
• Sorts and loads customer orders by route and delivery order.
• May schedule vendor shipments.

Participates in all scheduled physical inventories.

Performs basic housekeeping in assigned areas of warehouse.

Adheres to all safety procedures in the performance of job duties.

Daily interaction with furniture warehouse co-workers and warehouse management, Application Support, Inventory Control, Furniture Sales Support, vendors/suppliers for scheduling deliveries and obtaining return authorizations for vendor returns.

A minimum of twelve (12) months related experience in a warehouse environment; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training, education, and experience.

Need to have good PC, math, writing and reading.

Job requires the ability to become certified in the operation of warehouse equipment.

Prior experience operating warehouse equipment, such as forklift, pallet jack and cherry picker is must.

Education:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) require

The employee will regularly sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee may lift, lower, or carry products up to a maximum of 50 pounds by hand.

The employee may operate warehouse equipment. Using proper safety procedures will eliminate any potential hazards.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
