Job summary

Emerson in Canada is seeking a Warehouse & Production Manager to lead the production and warehouse teams on the shop floor. You will focus on accuracy, throughput and safety while driving continuous improvement, coordinating across departments, and meeting customer requirements.

You will motivate, train and lead staff, develop schedules, and implement ISO standards and Lean practices to maximize efficiency and quality. A strong emphasis is placed on safety, collaboration and results.

  • Lead production and warehouse teams to meet standards of accuracy, performance and safety.

Job description

The Warehouse and Production Manager, under the direction of the Plant Manager, leads the production and warehouse team to ensure that accuracy, performance and production standards are met, with a focus on maintaining a safe work environment at all times. This role is responsible for the motivation, training, and leadership of the production and warehouse teams as well as the operational plans to meet and exceed customer requirements, while maximizing quality, proficiencies, throughput, and productivity of the location – requiring substantial time on the shop floor.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
  • Manage and synchronize employee productivity and accuracy across production, machine-shop, paint-shop, warehouse, shipping, receiving, plant-wide inventory functions in collaboration with other departments to ensure achievement of overall business objectives.

  • Control and support production operations by developing production plans, scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules as needed, resolving issues, and reporting production results.

  • Develop and continuously improve systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, control processes, budgetary requirements, and personnel needs while implementing process improvements and leading Continuous Improvement initiatives and ISO standards.

  • Coordinate daily freight carrier scheduling and export documentation while managing back orders, waves, OSP, receiving, RMA, picking, and product receipts, and serving as a liaison with Customer Service regarding order tracking, changes, and expediting.

  • Lead and support warehouse operations by scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring workflow, revising schedules, resolving operational issues, and ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently.

  • Manage shipping and receiving activities, including short and over shipments and quality issues related to intercompany shipments, while coordinating with the appropriate personnel to identify and resolve issues.

  • Organize departmental workflow and expedite orders to ensure timely delivery of products to the end user or customer while monitoring cycle counts and ensuring appropriate inventory adjustments and approvals.

  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Production, Warehouse, Customer Service, and other functions to coordinate material flow, resolve operational constraints, and support the timely execution of business and customer requirements.

  • Develop strategies to identify process and cost-reduction opportunities, evaluate business risks, and implement strategically sound solutions to improve operational performance and achieve KPIs across all areas of responsibility.

  • Ensure shop-floor Health & Safety compliance by maintaining a safe and clean work environment and educating and directing personnel on the proper use of equipment, control points, and resources in accordance with established policies and procedures.

And you work cooperatively with others across the organization and gain the trust and support of others.

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
  • 6+ years of recent management experience with direct responsibility for both production operations and warehouse management within a Lean Manufacturing environment. Candidates must demonstrate substantial, hands‑on leadership experience in both areas.

  • Relevant post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Oracle ERP systems experience is required (Procurement, Materials Management, etc.)

  • Organizational skills are required to plan, set priorities, and schedule

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven ability to interact positively with co-workers and management

  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to teach new methods to others

  • Practices excellent housekeeping throughout the facility in alignment with 5S+1

  • Has problem solving skills, strong initiative and the ability to apply them effectively in the workplace

  • Good knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act is essential to support our 12 Safety Behaviors philosophy

  • Ability to conceptualize new ideas to improve current processes, supports and creates an environment of continuous improvement and efficiency

  • Demonstrable knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship now and in the future

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional certified (CSCP)

  • Previous experience in an electrical environment is an asset

The salary/pay range for this role is $90,000 - $105,000 annually (not more than 50k difference)+ bonuses, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.
