Job summary

COMPASS GROUP CANADA is seeking a waitstaff contributor in Canada’s Capital Regional District. You will greet guests, take orders, and deliver meals with prompt, friendly service, while maintaining sanitation standards and knowledge of menu items and dietary options.

You will collaborate with kitchen and service staff to ensure orders are accurate, handle guest requests and complaints professionally, and help keep the dining area clean and properly set for service and events.

Qualifications

• Experience in the food services industry.
• Must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to get along well with others.
• Physically able to lift and transfer heavy items, and stand/walk for long shifts.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests promptly and warmly; take orders and deliver items efficiently.
• Deliver food promptly and maintain safe food handling and sanitation standards; follow up as needed.
• Advise guests on menu items and dietary options; accommodate reasonable requests.
• Communicate with back-of-house staff to ensure accurate delivery and special requests.
• Address complaints or issues and relay information to a supervisor.
• Ensure dining room is set up before and after service; keep area clean and sanitary.
• Collaborate with staff from other departments during events and functions.

Job description

How you will make an impact:

You will be responsible for taking food and beverage orders and efficiently delivering items to dining room guests.

As a Waitstaff, you will be:

• Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room; take food and beverages in an efficient manner, following established steps of service
• Deliver food promptly and professionally; maintain safe food handling and sanitation standards. Follow up periodically to assist with any additional needs or requests
• Demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients. Advise guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks when requested; accommodate reasonable requests and notes preferences. Demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets
• Communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure that orders are delivered correctly, and special requests are accommodated
• Promptly address complaints or issues, relay relevant information or complaints directly to supervisor
• Ensure that the dining room is properly set up prior to and after the service period; keep the area clean and neat while meeting established sanitation standards
• Work with staff of other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions

About you:

• You have previous experience in the food services industry
