Job summary

Compass Group Canada in Vancouver is seeking a friendly Waitstaff to take food and beverage orders and deliver items to dining room guests. This is an existing vacancy and compensation includes an hourly wage of $25 CAD.

You will greet guests, deliver with care, advise on menu items, coordinate with kitchen, handle special requests, and maintain sanitation standards. Flexible evenings and a professional appearance are expected.

Qualifications

  • Experience in banquet, corporate events, or hospitality.
  • Valid Serving It Right and Food Handler Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room; take food and beverages following steps of service.
  • Deliver food promptly and professionally; maintain sanitation standards.
  • Explain menu items and ingredients; advise on pairings and accommodate special requests.
  • Communicate with back-of-house staff to ensure correct orders and special requests.
  • Address complaints or issues and relay to supervisor.
  • Ensure dining room is set up before and after service; keep area clean.
  • Work with staff from other departments during events and functions.

Job description

The hourly wage rate for this position is $25 . Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. How you will make an impact:

You will be responsible for taking food and beverage orders and efficiently delivering items to dining room guests.

As a Waitstaff, you will be:
  • Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room; take food and beverages in an efficient manner, following established steps of service
  • Deliver food promptly and professionally; maintain safe food handling and sanitation standards. Follow up periodically to assist with any additional needs or requests
  • Demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients. Advise guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks when requested; accommodate reasonable requests and notes preferences. Demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets
  • Communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure that orders are delivered correctly, and special requests are accommodated
  • Promptly address complaints or issues, relay relevant information or complaints directly to supervisor
  • Ensure that the dining room is properly set up prior to and after the service period; keep the area clean and neat while meeting established sanitation standards
  • Work with staff of other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions
About you:
  • You have previous experience in banquet, corporate events, executive dining, catering or hospitality.
  • You must have a valid Serving It Right and Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent
  • Exceptional communications skills and ability to get along well with others
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items, and stand/walk for majority of shift
  • Flexible availability including evenings as required by event schedules.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with a professional appearance and demeanor.
