Job summary

Compass Group Canada in Kamloops is seeking a Waitstaff member to warmly greet dining room guests, take orders, and deliver food and beverages efficiently while maintaining sanitation standards.

Responsibilities include ensuring accurate orders, knowledge of menu items, assisting with special requests, coordinating with kitchen and other departments, and keeping the dining area clean and ready for service. Previous food service experience and a valid Food Handler Certificate are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in the food services industry.
• Valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent.

• Ability to lift and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests promptly and warmly in the dining room and take orders.
• Deliver food and beverages promptly, following steps of service.
• Ensure safe food handling and sanitation standards are followed.
• Advise guests on menu items and accommodate requests and dietary needs.
• Coordinate with back-of-house to ensure correct orders and specials.
• Address complaints or issues and relay to supervisor as needed.
• Keep dining room set up and clean before and after service, supporting events.

Job description

The hourly wage rate for this position is $24.34- (base pay+SSO wage*)*Base 18.25 + 6.49/hr SSO wage) *Single Site Order (SSO) is subject to the direction of the government and may be discontinued at any time.

How you will make an impact:
You will be responsible for taking food and beverage orders and efficiently delivering items to dining room guests.

As a Waitstaff, you will be:

• Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room; take food and beverages in an efficient manner, following established steps of service
• Deliver food promptly and professionally; maintain safe food handling and sanitation standards. Follow up periodically to assist with any additional needs or requests
• Demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients. Advise guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks when requested; accommodate reasonable requests and notes preferences. Demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets
• Communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure that orders are delivered correctly, and special requests are accommodated
• Promptly address complaints or issues, relay relevant information or complaints directly to supervisor
• Ensure that the dining room is properly set up prior to and after the service period; keep the area clean and neat while meeting established sanitation standards
• Work with staff of other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions

About you:

• You have previous experience in the food services industry
• You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent
• Exceptional communications skills and ability to get along well with others
• Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items, and stand/walk for majority of shift
