Job summary

Compass Group Canada is hiring waitstaff to take food and beverage orders and deliver items to dining room guests. You will greet guests, deliver orders, and ensure high standards of sanitation and service.

Ideal candidates have food service experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle physical duties. A Food Handler Certificate is an asset. Diverse and inclusive environment with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the food services industry.
  • A Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent is an asset.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to get along with others.
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items, and stand/walk for most of shift.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests promptly and warmly in the dining room and take orders.
  • Deliver food and beverages promptly and professionally; follow sanitation standards.
  • Explain menu items and ingredients; advise on pairings and accommodate notes/preferences.
  • Coordinate with back-of-house staff to ensure correct orders and special requests.
  • Address complaints or issues promptly and relay to supervisor.
  • Maintain clean, properly set dining room before and after service.
  • Collaborate with staff from other departments during events and functions.

As a Waitstaff, You Will Be
  • Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room; take food and beverages in an efficient manner, following established steps of service
  • Deliver food promptly and professionally; maintain safe food handling and sanitation standards. Follow up periodically to assist with any additional needs or requests
  • Demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients. Advise guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks when requested; accommodate reasonable requests and notes preferences. Demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets
  • Communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure that orders are delivered correctly, and special requests are accommodated
  • Promptly address complaints or issues, relay relevant information or complaints directly to supervisor
  • Ensure that the dining room is properly set up prior to and after the service period; keep the area clean and neat while meeting established sanitation standards
  • Work with staff of other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions
About You
  • You have previous experience in the food services industry
