Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a Catering Server to deliver and serve food and beverages at scheduled functions, with responsibilities extending from delivery logistics to post-event closeout.

The role requires food safety certification, strong communication, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. A valid driver’s license may be required and there are opportunities to drive a catering delivery truck.

Qualifications

• You must hold a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent.
• You must hold a Responsible Beverage Service Certificate for the province you apply in.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and serve food and beverages at scheduled functions.
• Log and maintain food temperatures.
• Assist with food and table prep before events.
• Arrange buffet tables with food and service items.
• Serve plated dinners and respond to beverage/appetizer requests.
• Keep display equipment clean during service.
• Clean up at closeout and assist with inventory and storage.
• Return equipment to the catering facility and maintain cleanliness.

How You Will Make An Impact

You will be responsible for delivering and serving food and beverages at scheduled functions.

As a Catering Server, You Will

• Arrange complete delivery of food and supplies to their scheduled locations
• Log and maintain food temperatures
• Assist with food and table prep before events begin
• Arrange buffet tables with food, beverage, and service items according to standards
• Serve plated dinners to guests and respond to requests for beverages, appetizers, and other needs
• Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service
• Thoroughly clean location after event is completed and assist with inventory, food storage and other closeout tasks
• Return food and beverages, serving equipment and utensils to catering facility
• Stock, clean and maintain catering facility and equipment
• Ensure guests receive friendly, courteous service at all times
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of the complete menu and products on hand
• Maintain clean and safe work environment
• Follow safety and sanitation policy and procedures at all times
• May drive a catering delivery truck

About You

• You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent and Responsible Beverage Service Certificate for the province in which you are applying
• Minimum 1 year experience in a similar environment
• Valid driver’s license may be required
• Able to accurately read event orders and organize deliveries for the day
• Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Extremely well organized and efficient; able to multi-task
• Good attention to detail
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
