Our client, a well-established manufacturing company in central Ottawa, is seeking an experienced VP - Finance & IT to join their executive leadership team. This role offers the chance to lead financial integrity, operational efficiency, and technological advancement, with potential for mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Strategy & Leadership:
   • Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business objectives.
   • Provide insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.
   • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
   • Drive operational efficiency through benchmarking and process improvements.
2. Accounting & Financial Operations:
   • Oversee daily accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
   • Maintain internal controls to safeguard financial integrity.
   • Ensure tax compliance and timely filings.
   • Oversee financial statements and management reports.
   • Manage cash flow and financial systems accuracy.
3. IT & ERP Implementation Oversight:
   • Lead selection and rollout of new ERP system.
   • Align IT strategies with business goals, focusing on scalability and data integrity.
   • Ensure IT security measures are in place.
   • Foster collaboration for seamless ERP integration.
   • Lead and develop finance and IT teams, promoting a culture of excellence and accountability.
   • Provide training, career development, and succession planning.
   • Champion change management initiatives.
4. Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Support:
   • Prepare the company for potential M&A activities.
   • Conduct due diligence, financial modeling, and integration planning.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

• A CPA designation and a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field; an MBA is a plus.
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in a private sector organization.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing, cost accounting, financial reporting, cash flow, budgets, and internal controls.
• Experience in owner-managed environments and building high-performing teams.
• Experience overseeing IT functions and ERP implementations.
• Proven M&A leadership experience, including due diligence and integration.
• Excellent analytical, strategic, and communication skills.
