Role Overview
Beem Credit Union is seeking a dynamic VP of Information Security to join our team. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, this role is crucial in ensuring the security of our organization's information and data. Collaborating with IT, Innovation, Risk, and Privacy executives, you'll drive the effectiveness of our security program. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic direction of the company’s Information Security program.
- Implement programs and projects to mitigate risk, sharing IT responsibilities for strategic initiatives and change (robust products and services).
- Oversee incident response, investigations, forensics, and disaster recovery efforts during data or security breaches, utilizing resources efficiently.
- Educate and inform senior management about potential security threats, coordinating response and recovery efforts during breaches.
- Lead cybersecurity operations, analyzing immediate threats in real-time, triaging, and communicating effectively with relevant parties.
- Partner with business leadership and other departments to remediate security flaws in infrastructure, system design, and application security.
- Align security strategies with corporate goals, advising on potential security issues arising from business plans. Keep up-to-date with current trends and educate stakeholders on emerging vulnerabilities.
- Prevent data loss and inhibit fraud or theft internally and externally; oversee cybersecurity training.
- Manage security architecture — planning, acquiring, and deploying security hardware and software, ensuring IT and network infrastructure adhere to best security practices.
- Develop protocols for identity and access management to ensure only authorized personnel access restricted data and systems.
- Build and lead a high-performing team of enterprise data professionals, providing mentorship and professional development.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning to attract, retain, and motivate top talent.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, or a related field; a technical master's degree with a security focus is preferred.
- Number of years of experience in Information Systems, with at least - years in management within the Financial Services sector.
- Profound understanding of security protocols and system architecture, including DNS, routing, authentication, VPN, proxy services, DDoS mitigation, coding practices, ethical hacking, threat modeling, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention protocols.
- Superior knowledge of compliance and risk standards such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, GLBA, GDPR, and SOX.
- Strong business acumen, strategic vision, and the ability to translate technology trends into actionable insights that drive business value.
- Experience with agile methodologies and practices, demonstrating responsiveness and adaptability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and strategic partnerships, prioritizing value and innovation.
