Niagara Health is seeking a Volunteer Resources Coordinator to manage volunteer activities across its sites. This critical role will focus on developing innovative volunteer programs, enhancing patient experiences, and actively working with the Patient Experience team. Ideal candidates will have a diploma in Volunteer Management and relevant experience in a healthcare environment.

Position Objective
The Coordinator, Volunteer Services is responsible for overseeing the day to day activities of volunteers. Reporting to the Manager, Patient Experience and Volunteer Resources, the successful candidate will assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of an innovative and customer-focused volunteer program. The Coordinator, Volunteer Resources will collaborate with the team, managers and designated staff to deliver high quality volunteer programs across all sites. The Volunteer Services team, which is under the Patient Experience portfolio will also work with the Patient Experience team to support and develop strategy on how the Volunteer program can provide an optimal patient experience for patients, care givers and the community we serve. The successful candidate will participate in recruitment and selection, orientation, placement, training, recognition and evaluation of volunteers. The successful candidate will monitor industry trends and develop a leading edge volunteer services program. The Coordinator will promote volunteer programs to hospital staff and will support hospital events and initiatives. Travel between sites is required.
Qualifications
o Diploma in Volunteer Management or in a related field
o A minimum of 2 years of experience working with volunteers preferably in a healthcare setting
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
o Demonstrated customer service skills
o Well developed verbal and written communication skills
o Presentation skills required and experience in training an asset
o Superior organizational, interpersonal and decision making skills
o Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining community relationships and partnerships
o Demonstrated ability to handle a diversified workload with changing priorities
o Demonstrated professionalism and commitment to the vision and mission of Niagara Health
o Excellent computer skills in all Microsoft applications
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset
