Job description

As a registered charity and Ontario not-for-profit, QSCM offers live chamber music concerts and outreach events featuring professional musicians highly regarded in the field.

QSCM hires professional musicians on basis of their professional resume, submitted materials and recommendations from leading artistic figures in the professional classical music community.

Free admission ensures that all can attend. This is made possible by the generosity of local donors, business and private, and project grants from municipal governments and the Ontario Arts Council, a provincial government agency.

Aside from professional musicians, the work of QSCM is done entirely by volunteers.

The goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of means, is able to experience classical music at its best. The impact is felt locally and beyond as QSCM fosters Canadian musical culture in our rural communities at the grassroots level.

Volunteer Program and Project Manager

QSCM is seeking a committed volunteer to help manage our events and organizational projects. These include two to three major concerts each year, as well as initiatives that support our long-term growth—such as handling logistics for capital donations.

The Program and Project Manager (PM) will work closely with our Board of Directors to plan, coordinate, and track progress. You’ll oversee budgets, timelines, and logistics while volunteers—including the Marketing team and Board members—carry out the work.

This is a remote, unpaid volunteer position. While we prefer someone located in or near the Quinte area for local familiarity, we welcome applicants from across Canada or internationally.

A reference letter from the Board of Directors can be provided upon successful completion of your term, if requested.

What You’ll Do

We’re flexible on time commitment and can adjust responsibilities based on your availability and experience. We may also divide responsibilities between two project managers, depending on applicants.

Key priorities right now include :

Budgeting

  • Work with the Board to create project budgets.
  • Help guide fundraising goals and adjust project scope based on available funds.
  • Report financials to the Treasurer for government reporting.

Task Management

  • Collaborate with the Board Chair to plan tasks.
  • Coordinate with the Managing Director to assign work to the right volunteers.
  • Track progress, flag challenges, and report updates to leadership.

There’s also an opportunity to introduce standardized project processes and templates—ideal for someone looking to build their portfolio or gain hands-on experience.

Support and mentorship are available from our Managing Director, who brings over 20 years of project management experience.

Who You’ll Work With

You’ll work virtually with our leadership team, including :

  • Outgoing Board Chair – Offers background and vision for QSCM's events.
  • Managing Director – Your primary contact for day-to-day operations and strategy.
  • Artistic Director – Provides insight into programming priorities.
  • Marketing Manager – Oversees marketing efforts with her volunteer team.

How to Apply

To apply, email your resume and a short statement of interest to info@qscmusic.com. We’ll follow up with next steps and introduce you to our board.
