Job summary

The Campbell River Hospice Society is seeking a dynamic Volunteer & Community Event Coordinator to recruit, manage, and engage volunteers while fostering strong ties with local businesses for fundraising. You will plan, market, and execute Hospice events and collaborate with staff to deliver impactful programs.

Ideal candidates have strong organizational skills, experience in volunteer coordination, and comfort with social media outreach. Evening and weekend events may be required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in volunteer management is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Social Work, Event Management, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Communications or related field is an asset (not required).
  • Proven experience in event planning, marketing, and/or volunteer coordination, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Meta platforms, and relevant design, volunteer, and event management tools.
  • Physical ability for lifting/moving supplies and occasional evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the volunteer program, including recruitment, training, and retention.
  • Build community engagement through social media and outreach initiatives.
  • Work with local businesses and community groups to support fundraising efforts.
  • Plan, market, coordinate, and execute Hospice fundraising events and activities.
  • Collaborate with staff and partners to deliver successful events.
  • Manage event budgets, timelines, logistics, and marketing.
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners.
  • Track and evaluate event and volunteer program outcomes.
  • Represent Hospice positively within the community.

Position: Volunteer & Community Event Coordinator

Salary Range: $22.00 – $30.00

Job Type: Full-time

Work Hours: Full-time hours (8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday; 4 days per week may be considered)

ABOUT US

The Campbell River Hospice Society provides end-of-life and grief support to individuals and families of all ages at no cost, made possible through the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of our community.

POSITION

We are seeking a dynamic, organized, and community-minded Volunteer and Community Event Coordinator to join our team.

This role is responsible for recruiting, managing, and coordinating all Hospice volunteers, ensuring they are well-supported, trained, and meaningfully engaged.

The position also leads community engagement by working with local businesses to support the organization through their own fundraising efforts, and collaborates with the team on broader organizational fundraising initiatives. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Reporting: Reports to the Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
  • Experience in volunteer management is an asset
