CHCH News in Hamilton, Ontario is seeking a part-time Video Journalist to join a fast-paced newsroom. You will gather, shoot, edit, and present engaging stories for broadcast and digital, working weekends and select overnights and weekdays.

The ideal candidate has 6+ months as a video journalist, strong editing skills (Premiere Pro), and a journalism degree, with a track record on social platforms. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • Five years experience with live television news reporting and writing preferred
  • At least six months of experience as a video journalist
  • A degree or diploma in journalism or a relevant field is required.
  • Strong interviewing, writing, and editing skills
  • Possess a demonstrable history of working in various social media platforms
  • Superior organizational, spelling, and grammar skills
  • Ability to work in a live broadcast environment
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Responsibilities

  • Generate local and regional on-air content for our TV shows and for digital platforms
  • Shoot video, take photos, and report news as it happens, including live on-air

  • Develop story ideas for inclusion in news shows
  • Develop and maintain contacts
  • Other duties as required

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Gather, shoot, edit, and present insightful, accurate, and engaging news stories for broadcast and digital

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Five years experience with live television news reporting and writing preferred*
  • At least six months of experience as a video journalist
  • Proficiency with video editing software is a must
  • Knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro is an asset
  • A working knowledge of ENPS would be an asset
  • A degree or diploma in journalism or a relevant field is required.
