Continuing our growth trajectory from startup days, EarthLabs is excited to expand its team and is currently seeking a dynamic and talented Video Editor to join us.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Video Editor, you will play a crucial role in transforming raw footage into polished, engaging content for various platforms. You will edit a diverse range of videos, including short-form content for social media, podcasts, business interviews, and long-form discussions (see examples: https://www.youtube.com/user/ceocafilm/videos and https://www.youtube.com/@miningdotcom). Working closely with the production team and across departments, you’ll ensure that each video aligns with our brand’s standards and is delivered on time. Quick turnarounds, often same-day or next-day delivery, are essential, given your management of multiple projects per day while maintaining high quality.
This is a hybrid, permanent position based in Toronto, Ontario.
- Edit Video Footage: Edit diverse video content, including but not limited to short-form social media videos, podcasts, business reports, interviews, and long-form discussions.
- Ensure Quick Turnaround: Manage multiple editing projects daily, ensuring timely delivery without compromising quality.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with the production team and managers to meet project goals and maintain brand consistency.
- Follow Brand Guidelines: Adhere to established visual and editorial standards for all videos, ensuring a consistent and professional look.
- Enhance Storytelling: Add and refine effects, sound design, and color correction to improve narrative and viewer engagement.
- Manage Content Library: Organize digital assets, maintain an up-to-date content library with proper tagging and categorization for easy retrieval.
- Stay Updated: Monitor video content trends, tools, and techniques to continually enhance production quality.
- Ad Hoc Tasks: Undertake additional assignments as needed.
- Experience: 5+ years proven experience as a video editor, with a portfolio demonstrating proficiency in both short- and long-form content.
- Education: Post-secondary education in media production, communications, or a related field is an asset.
- Software Proficiency: Expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and/or Avid Media Composer. Experience with After Effects and motion graphics is a plus.
- Filming Support: Support in filming content, both in green screen studios and with solid background setups.
- Video Publishing: Ability to publish videos across social media, websites, and third-party platforms (e.g., Primis).
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional eye for detail to produce polished, professional videos.
- Soft Skills: Strong time management, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Creativity & Technical Skills: Creative approach to editing with a solid technical understanding of video production.
