Job description

Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for a Vice President, Finance to help drive financial performance, enable smarter decisions, and support growth across a complex, global operation. This role sits at the heart of strategic planning and execution, providing leadership that directly influences operational outcomes, capital investments, and financial reporting. As a key member of the executive team, you'll bring rigor to finance, confidence to stakeholders, and insight to decision-makers. This is a high-impact opportunity for a seasoned finance leader ready to shape the next phase of growth for a dynamic, asset-intensive business.

Responsibilities :

  • Champion financial strategy and planning to support international operations and capital-intensive projects
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting that drives business insight and operational decision-making
  • Develop capital acquisition strategies and manage relationships with financial partners to secure cost-effective financing
  • Lead treasury management activities including multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange risk mitigation
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting frameworks (ASPE, GAAP, IFRS) and oversee successful annual audits
  • Partner with business development teams to provide cost modeling and financial analysis for proposals and client bids
  • Establish, implement, and continuously improve accounting systems, policies, controls, and procedures
  • Guide financial planning and analysis efforts to improve forecasting, budgeting, and operational alignment
  • Build and mentor a high-performing finance team focused on continuous improvement and results-driven KPIs
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team, providing insight that drives strategy and growth initiatives

Requirements :

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (MBA considered an asset)
  • 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including 8+ years in a senior or executive role
  • Background in industries such as marine, logistics, transportation, or asset-intensive sectors with $100M+ revenue
  • Proven success managing finance across multiple jurisdictions and legal entities
  • Expertise in corporate finance, treasury, and financial risk management
  • Demonstrated strength in leading both accounting / reporting and FP&A functions
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to engage cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  • Deep understanding of Canadian and international accounting standards

Remuneration :

  • Base Salary $220K plus - based experience, exposure and capability
  • Generous variable compensation
