Job summary

London Regional Veterinary Emergency & Referral Hospital in London, Ontario is seeking an Emergency Department Manager to oversee daily ER operations and lead a multidisciplinary team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff. The role reports to the General Manager and focuses on sustaining exceptional patient care and client service in a 24/7 setting.

Qualifications

• Veterinary industry experience is not required; management, leadership or business-operations experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Daily ER Operations: direct daily emergency service operations for DVMs, RVTs, technicians and staff.
• Lead & Develop Technical Teams: mentor RVTs and technicians, promote continuous learning and professional growth.
• Drive Scheduling & Coverage: manage shifts, staffing levels, overtime, and on-call authorizations.
• Collaborate on Leadership: participate in London Regional’s Senior Leadership Team and hospital-wide initiatives.
• Elevate Patient Care & Client Service: ensure high-quality patient care and prompt client issue resolution.
• Lead Performance Management: coach, conduct reviews, and handle disciplinary actions as needed.
• Manage Recruitment, Hiring & Onboarding: work with managers to fill staffing needs and onboard new staff.
• Champion Student Programs: recruit for internships and externships to grow talent.
• Lead Meetings & Communication: run departmental meetings and provide weekly updates to GM.
• Ensure Regulatory Compliance & Administration: follow hospital policies and complete administrative tasks.
