VCA Canada in Calgary, Alberta is seeking an experienced ER Manager to lead operations, optimize staffing, and drive service excellence. Reporting to the General Manager, you will coordinate with the Medical Director and hospital leaders to ensure efficient workflows and outstanding patient care.

The role emphasizes people leadership, budget oversight, and implementing corporate initiatives while maintaining a focus on high-quality veterinary services in a well-established hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years managing and leading multidisciplinary teams in a hospital/medical setting.
• Experience budgeting, monitoring expenses, and optimizing resources.
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
• Proven leadership across multiple teams with strong coaching skills.
• Ability to mentor, motivate, and retain high-performing staff.
• Excellent communication tailored to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Support the General Manager in operations: people, recruitment, finance, and capital expenditures.
• Oversee ER workflow to maintain high standards of patient care and client service.
• Lead change management initiatives balancing people, operations, and finances.
• Coach and support team on scheduling, training and performance.
• Monitor staffing, productivity, and scheduling to optimize costs.
• Manage department budgets and financial performance.
