Job summary

Regent Park Animal Hospital is seeking a part-time Veterinary Assistant for a busy one-doctor small animal practice. The successful candidate should be mature, hardworking, and able to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Experience in a veterinary hospital or kennel, and basic knowledge of veterinary care are preferred. Responsibilities include assisting the veterinarian during examinations, treatments, surgeries, and taking radiographs; maintaining clean exam rooms; and handling client

• Must be able to multi-task and lift up to 40 lbs.
• Able to learn quickly in a busy environment.
• Must have computer proficiency.
• Reliable transportation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarian during examinations, treatments, surgeries, and taking radiographs.
• Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms at all times.
• Input client/patient data using our veterinary software.
• Answer phones, book appointments, and front desk duties.
• Kennel duties: clean runs and cages, feed/care for dogs and cats, walk dogs, laundry and cleaning.

Job description

Regent Park Animal Hospital has an immediate part-time opening for a Veterinary Assistant position. We are a very busy one doctor small animal practice.
This position is very demanding and requires a mature person that is confident, hardworking, comfortable working in a busy environment and able to learn quickly on the go.
The successful candidate should have experience working in a veterinary hospital, kennel and/or experience with animals. The candidate should have basic knowledge of veterinary medicine/care.
Hospital Responsibilities: include, but are not limited to, assist Veterinarian during examinations, treatments, surgeries and taking radiographs, maintain cleanliness of exam rooms at all times, client/patient input using our veterinary software, and effectively communicate with clients by answering phones, booking appointments, and front desk duties.
Kennel Responsibilities: include, but are not limited to, cleaning and sanitizing runs and cages, feeding and caring for dogs and cats, walking dogs, doing laundry and general cleaning.
This is a physical job, and candidate must be able to multi-task, lift and carry up to 40lbs and be able to be on their feet the whole shift. Candidate must have computer proficiency. Our hours are Monday-Friday 8am-6m. Candidate should have reliable transportation.
Wage is dependent upon experience. Priority will be given to applicants with Veterinary and/or Kennel experience.
