The Amazon Canada's Hardlines team is seeking a self-driven Vendor Manager to support our Vendor Management team and our vendor partners. You'll work with strategic vendors to drive business growth, analyze data to identify key brands, build long-term relationships, resolve operational and business issues, and lead negotiations on Amazon's behalf. You'll play a critical role in managing strategic and established brands to drive profitability and topline performance (P&L) for your category/brands.

We're looking for someone with deep curiosity about how things work and a passion for creating a world-class shopping experience for our customers. The candidate will use customer obsession and analytics to inform creative solutions to drive their business. The Vendor Manager will have the opportunity to engage with multiple internal teams to optimize product line performance for key vendors on Amazon.ca. They will utilize strong communication skills to collaborate with internal cross-functional partners, such as site merchandising, buying, pricing, inventory management, operations, online marketing, and finance to drive performance for their business.

This position provides the candidate an opportunity to execute analytical deep dives that help inform category growth strategies and initiatives. In addition to gaining vendor management experience, this candidate will have exposure in driving category growth. Amazon.ca Vendor Managers have the unique opportunity to work at the most innovative online retailer, while developing strong functional skills in online merchandising/marketing, buying, planning/forecasting, pricing, and business analytics.

Vendor Manager roles are in the General Management career path at Amazon. The General Management career path offers the opportunity for advancement into a variety of roles including Marketing/Merchandising, Vendor Management, Product Management and Inventory Management.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Manage P&L with a long-term perspective, developing data-driven plans to sustainably improve revenue and margins while balancing short-term and long-term trade-offs.
  2. Conduct thorough analysis of key inputs and their downstream effects on pricing, selection, and convenience, using data to inform decisions and identify areas for improvement.
  3. Cultivate strategic vendor relationships through transparent negotiations and collaborative growth initiatives.
  4. Continuously innovate to enhance the customer experience, driving broad adoption by simplifying processes and removing friction points.
  5. Manage project execution with a bias for action, creating detailed project plans and holding teams accountable for high-quality, timely deliverables.
  6. Drive cross-functional commitments from Marketing, Engineering, and Category Management teams, fostering open dialogue and aligning on shared goals.
A day in the life
  1. Cultivating vendor relationships to drive long-term business growth
  2. Negotiating contracts and developing Joint Business Plans with vendors
  3. Analyzing category metrics to prepare for weekly business reviews
  4. Collaborating with vendors and internal teams to expand product selection
  5. Finalizing promotional plans for upcoming events
  6. Working with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new product features
  7. Identifying and executing strategies to improve sales and margins
  8. Creating and refining customer experiences to maintain best-in-class standards
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 1+ years of account management, project or program management or buying experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience using Excel and other business analytic tools

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with software and editing tools (including HTML, Excel and SQL)
- Experience in online retail
- Experience using analytical specific tools such as Google Analytics, SQL or HTML
