Job description

Amazon is seeking an experienced business leader to join the Hardlines category team on Amazon Canada. The Vendor Manager will oversee the P&L and define the strategic direction for a large, diverse business within the Hardlines category. Key responsibilities include working with strategic vendors to foster growth, analyzing data to identify key brands, building long-term vendor relationships, resolving operational issues, and leading negotiations on Amazon’s behalf.

The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in building strong relationships, achieving significant top and bottom-line results, and managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. They should possess leadership presence and excellent communication skills to engage with vendor organizations at all levels.

Strong analytical skills are essential, with the ability to interpret extensive data and draw metric-based conclusions. The candidate should be passionate about creating a superior shopping experience, stay informed about industry trends, and be capable of executing both tactical and strategic initiatives to enhance selection, sales, and margins while improving customer satisfaction.

Qualifications include strong business judgment, successful negotiation experience, and the ability to manage and drive a full P&L, including planning and forecasting. Project management and organizational skills are crucial for managing vendors and strategic programs. The Vendor Manager must be an effective leader and communicator, collaborating with internal teams such as inventory management, site merchandising, marketing, PR, finance, operations, and software development to deliver innovative solutions and better customer experiences.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of experience with Excel
  • 5+ years of experience in retail, operations, product or program management, or business management/consulting with negotiations and results delivery
  • Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of professional or military experience
  • Experience with financial analysis and P&L management
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience managing large data sets to drive performance and process improvements
  • Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing, promotion, inventory management, and product development
