Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is recruiting a Vehicle Technician for our Peterborough depot. You’ll work on a wide range of makes and models, performing servicing, maintenance and diagnostic repairs to a high standard.

You’ll identify faults, service cars and LGVs, and mentor apprentices while maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge and liaising with the Parts Department to ensure efficient job completion.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant vehicle maintenance/repair discipline.
• Higher-level diagnostic training or experience in a senior diagnostic role is preferred.
• Full, valid driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Identify and rectify in-depth and complex diagnostic faults.
• Carry out service, maintenance and repairs on cars and LGVs.
• Liaise with Parts Department to ensure efficient job completion.
• Complete job cards, service sheets, and documentation accurately and on time.
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised workspace.
• Attend training to keep technical knowledge up to date.
• Support and mentor apprentices and other team members when required.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Vehicle Technician, Diagnostic Technician – Cars & LGV, Automotive

As our Vehicle Technician, you’ll take ownership of your own area of work and will be trusted to complete the job to a high standard.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Identifying and rectifying in-depth and complex diagnostic faults.
• Carrying out service, maintenance and repairs across a range of cars and LGVs.
• Liaising with the Parts Department to make sure jobs are completed efficiently.
• Completing job cards, service sheets, clocking and other relevant documentation accurately and on time.
• Keeping your workspace clean, tidy and organised.
• Maintaining up-to-date product and technical knowledge and attending training where required.
• Supporting and mentoring apprentices and other members of the wider team when required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Vehicle Technician, Diagnostic Technician – Cars & LGV, Automotive

We’re looking for someone who knows their way around a vehicle and, more importantly, knows how to find the fault when things aren’t straightforward.

Ideally, you’ll have:

• City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant vehicle maintenance/repair discipline, or strong proven experience.
• Higher-level diagnostic training or previous experience in a similar senior diagnostic role.
• A full, valid driving licence.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work as part of a team and support less experienced technicians.
