Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking an HGV Technician in Peterborough who will service, maintain, and repair HGVs and light vehicles. The role offers a route to obtain an HGV licence after six months and access to IRTEC/ATA accreditation training.

You will diagnose faults, prepare vehicles for MOT, and work with the parts team while keeping thorough workshop paperwork up to date. Overtime is available and supported by a company investing in its team.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• Experience in motor trade or similar role.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs, light vehicles and trailers.
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT.
• Attending roadside breakdowns when required.
• Working closely with the parts department.
• Completing job cards and workshop paperwork accurately.
• Keeping your technical knowledge up to date through ongoing training.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

HGV Technician, HGV Fitter, HGV Mechanic - commercial vehicle, LGV, HGV, fleet

You'll ideally have:

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds qualification in Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent experience)
• Recent experience working within the motor trade in a similar role
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• A full UK driving licence
• An HGV licence would be fantastic, but it's not essential. If you're the right person and don't currently hold one, we'll support you in gaining your licence after six months.
