Job summary

Fairmont Hotel Macdonald in Edmonton is seeking a Part Time Valet/Bell Person to welcome guests, assist with parking and provide exceptional service. You will greet guests, explain valet options and fees, maintain secure key handling, and assist in safety and guest security as needed.

The role requires weekend/evening shifts and a valid driver’s license. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package and the chance to work at a landmark property with a rich history in hospitality

Qualifications

  • Weekend/evening/shift availability required.
  • Valid driver’s license with no infractions required.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer service focused and team oriented.
  • Good command of English; professional manner expected.
  • Able to operate standard/manual transmission vehicles.
  • Recent in-good-standing driver’s abstract needed.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Assist guests at entrances, provide parking assistance and promote valet parking.
  • Greet guests on arrival and departure with a courteous hospitality greeting.
  • Explain valet services, parking options and fees to guests.
  • Ensure keys are organized and stored securely.
  • Assist in safety and security, and report anomalies to supervisor.
  • Perform duties per hotel fire response manual and standards.

Valet/Bell Person (Part Time)

From a warm welcome to a fond farewell, as a Bell Person, you will take care of the guests as soon as they step foot onto your driveway, ensuring a lasting impression for our guests’ stay.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Director of Front Office, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Noticeably positioned at entrances to provide parking assistance upon arrival and departure of guest vehicles
  • Greet all guests arriving by vehicle, and promote valet parking as the only hotel‑related parking option or clearly direct guests to appropriate public parking service if they prefer
  • To ensure customer satisfaction by offering the highest caliber of service to the hotel guest on arrival and departure and throughout the length of the guest's stay
  • Greet all guests and co‑workers with a smile and an appropriate hospitality greeting
  • Ensure all vehicle keys are clearly identified and stored in a locked location
  • Provide the guest with detailed parking fees and a clear explanation of valet benefits
  • Ensure all entrance areas are free and clear from congestion for arrivals and departures of vehicles by ensuring all cars are parked in an expedient manner
  • Complete thorough walk around of guest vehicles prior to entering the garage and highlight any damage on the corresponding valet parking ticket
  • When requested or anticipated, will provide guests with information and answers to questions about Hotel facilities, meeting functions, dining facilities, local transportation alternatives and tourist attractions
  • Provide the removal of items from stored vehicles if required, and other miscellaneous services requested by the guest or supervisor in a timely manner
  • Assists in fire alarms by fulfilling duties as outlined in the hotel fire response manual
  • Assist in ensuring guest and co‑worker safety and security by reporting any suspicious or unusual behavior or occurrence to the appropriate supervisor on duty and informing security
  • Strict adherence to Fairmont Service Standard Expectations as it relates to valet parking
  • In the course of normal duties; observe, report or take immediate corrective action on deficiencies, malfunctions, and untidiness
  • Able to operate all types of vehicles (manual and regular transmission)
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps
Your experience and skills include:
  • Available to work weekends, evenings and shift work
  • Recent in good standing driver’s abstract is needed
  • Excellent verbal communication skills

  • Valid Driver’s License with no infractions
  • Good command of the English language
  • Able to operate standard transmission vehicles

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining work authorization documents

Hourly Range: $18.88 - $19.88 CAD Gross per hour
