Job summary

BIS Safety Software is seeking a thoughtful UX/UI Designer to shape and improve the user experience across our platform for web and mobile products. You will collaborate with product managers, developers, and QA to research problems, improve workflows, and design solutions that simplify complex software.

This in-person role is based out of our Sherwood Park, AB office, with opportunities to build and document our growing design system and contribute to the design language of our SaaS platform.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience designing software, web apps, mobile apps, or other complex digital products.
• Strong proficiency in Figma and experience creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready designs.
• Experience using research, user needs, and product context to inform design decisions.
• Experience presenting your work, explaining the reasoning behind decisions, and collaborating with developers, product teams, clients, or other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own design cases from initial research and problem definition through design, feedback, iteration, and developer handoff.
• Design intuitive experiences for web and mobile software using Figma.
• Evaluate requests, ask questions, and identify underlying user problems before solving.
• Research users, patterns, competitors, and design best practices to inform decisions.
• Turn complex workflows into clear experiences via wireframes, flows, prototypes, and production-ready designs.
• Collaborate with product managers, developers, QA, and other designers to refine solutions and move cases into development.
• Present designs clearly, explain reasoning, and advocate for best user experience while accepting feedback.
• Help build and maintain design system by creating reusable components and documenting patterns.
• Identify opportunities to improve experiences, address design debt, and ensure consistency.
• Manage and prioritize design workload with roadmap guidance.
• Develop deep understanding of our software and users to own design needs in modules.
• Explore AI and emerging design tools to improve research and solutions.
