Job summary

First National Financial seeks a UX Designer for Application Development in Toronto to design clear, trustworthy AI-enabled mortgage workflows. You’ll blend user research, service design, interaction design, prototyping, and usability testing within a product squad, partnering with PM, SME, AI leads, engineers, and QA to deliver usable, compliant experiences.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in interaction design, user experience, psychology, or related field.
5+ years of progressive UX, product design, or user research for complex digital products.
Portfolio demonstrating strong user research, workflow design, and usability testing.
Advanced proficiency with Figma, design systems, IA, and engineering-ready specs.
Experience designing for complex rules, data-rich interfaces, and accessibility.

Responsibilities

Plan and conduct user research with underwriters, brokers, servicing teams, and other users.
Map current and future user journeys, service blueprints, and pain points for squads.
Design flows, wireframes, prototypes, and interaction specs using Figma from concepts to release.
Make AI outputs clear and actionable with evidence, explanations, and review paths.
Collaborate with Product Manager, SME, AI Engineers, and full-stack engineers to deliver feasible solutions.
Define usability and adoption metrics and drive iteration based on evidence.
Support UAT, pilots, rollout, and post-launch learning with the squad.
Create reusable AI interaction patterns and guidance for future squads.
