Job summary

Metro Vancouver is seeking an experienced Utility System Operations Technician to plan, schedule and coordinate sewer and drainage work with internal and external stakeholders. You will use MS Office and asset management tools while drawing on prior planning experience in an industrial setting.

The role requires a Diploma in Civil or Environmental Technology or an equivalent certificate with related municipal utility experience.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil or Environmental Technology or a related certificate with work experience.
• Strong knowledge of municipal/regional collections and distribution systems and ability to read drawings.
• Good verbal and written communication; ability to train others is a plus.
• Ability to work with internal/external contacts and in groups as a team member.
• Experience with computerized maintenance management software, reporting and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Assist operations supervisors in developing video inspection plans, tenders and budgets with contractors.
• Schedule preventive and planned maintenance for Utility Systems Operations and prepare detailed job packages.
• Coordinate with Maintenance Division staff on work orders and ensure proper documentation.
• Lead small construction project coordination, budgeting and scheduling with contractors.
• Manage regional programs like pipe crossing inspections, access rights-of-way and odour control records.
• Maintain utility systems document management; produce reports and update operation drawings.
• Support training schedules and track employees' CEUs.
• Coordinate with municipalities for street paving programs and track complaints.
• Administer security programs for utility systems and liaise with security contractors.
• Work in compliance with safety policies and WCB regulations.
