Job summary

The Shaw Group Limited is seeking a Utility Operator for our Belledune, New Brunswick location. You will support multiple plant systems, cover shifts, and help ensure safe, efficient production and quality at all times.

You will perform inspections, follow SOPs, and assist with startups/shutdowns while maintaining records and collaborating with maintenance teams. Physical labor and safety are emphasized in this role.

Qualifications

• Experience in a plant or industrial setting.
• Ability and desire to operate a wide range of equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Flexibility to work on various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with computerized control systems.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative when stepping into various roles.
• Commitment to following safety regulations and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Follow and work alongside crews to safely, efficiently & effectively run the plant and ensure production, quality and housekeeping goals are met.
• Actively participating in Tool Box meetings
• Step in to cover for absent or unavailable operators across different shifts as needed.
• Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting on plant systems and machinery.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and adhere to safety and environmental protocols.
• Maintain accurate records of system operations, maintenance activities, and any incidents.
• Assist in the shutdown and startup of plant equipment during maintenance or operational changes.
• Collaborate with the maintenance teams to resolve technical issues and improve plant efficiency.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment in all areas of operation

We are currently seeking to fill aUtility Operatorposition at our Belledune, New Brunswick location. We are seeking candidates with a strong work ethic, ability to work independently under minimal supervision and safety focused mindset. This position will provide operational support across multiple plant systems, stepping in to fill vacancies, and assisting with the smooth functioning of day-to-day plant activities.

As an integral part of our Operations Team, you will:

• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with computerized control systems.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative when stepping into various roles.
• Commitment to following safety regulations and protocols.
• Open to opportunities to train toward future roles within the facility
• Physical labour will be required
