Job summary

The Shaw Group is seeking a hands-on Yard Operations Lead for our Fredericton location. You will own the daily yard operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused service while directing loading, unloading, and material staging.

Strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and team collaboration will be essential. Responsibilities include customer engagement, inventory discipline, and coordinating yard flows.

Qualifications

• Experience in shipping/receiving or a warehouse environment.
• Forklift certification/experience is a strong asset; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Engage with customers daily and provide knowledgeable assistance with product selection and loading.
• Document incoming shipments, conduct cycle counts, and verify receipts against loaded materials.
• Plan yard layouts and manage materials flow to reduce over-handling and improve efficiency.
• Perform daily forklift inspections and enforce PPE compliance to maintain a safe yard environment.
• Assist with on-the-job training and uphold safety policies.

We are currently seeking a hands‑on, accountable Yard Operations Lead for our Fredericton location. As a key member of our front‑line team, you will own the daily operation of the yard, ensuring it runs with pride and efficiency while providing a professional experience for our customers.

As a Yard Associate at Shaw Brick, you'll be responsible for the flow of materials and the safety of everyone in the yard. Key responsibilities include:

• Customer Engagement:Act as a front‑line ambassador by providing knowledgeable, professional assistance to customers and contractors regarding product selection and loading.
• Inventory Management:Document incoming shipments for accuracy/damage, conduct regular cycle counts, and verify customer receipts against loaded materials.
• Logistics & Flow:Accurately pick, stage, and load outgoing orders. Assist in planning yard layouts to improve material flow and reduce over‑handling.
• Equipment & Safety:Perform daily inspections of mobile equipment (forklifts), enforce PPE compliance, and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free work environment.
• Leadership:Assist with on‑the‑job training for new hires when required and uphold company safety policies at all times.

What You'll Need To Be Successful:

• Experience:Previous experience in shipping/receiving or a warehouse environment.
• Technical Skills: Ability to safely and skillfully operate a forklift in tight spaces (certification/experience is a strong asset); basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office).
• Interpersonal Skills: You must be comfortable and confident engaging with customers daily. Exceptional communication skills and a service‑oriented mindset are essential.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to handle heavy merchandise and work outdoors comfortably in all weather conditions.

Schedule & Benefits:

• Hours:Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, during the busy season
