About the role:

This role offers hands-on experience working with utilities and municipalities, giving you a strong foundation to develop essential skills and advance your career. Expect a mix of office and fieldwork, where you'll tackle real-world projects outdoors in various weather conditions. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to travel out of town for about one week per month, adding variety and adventure to your work.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities of this role:

  • CAD Drawing & Design: Generate buried construction drawings and third-party aerial engineering plans using CAD software.
  • Analyze field data and produce final CAD drawings for submission.
  • Utilize, edit, and create dynamic blocks, layers, and new linetypes as needed.
  • Quality Assurance & Process Improvement: Ensure compliance with Cablewave CAD standards by reviewing and refining drawings.
  • Provide feedback to improve design standards, automation, and quality control.
  • Field Surveying & Data Collection (Occasional Requirement): Conduct field surveys, collecting data using GPS, cameras, and electromagnetic locating equipment.
  • Training & Professional Development: Gain hands-on experience with pole line modeling using Spida-Calc & Quickpole software.
  • Develop proficiency in SpatialNET and project management tools.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent time management.
  • Must work well independently, and possess strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Review and understand utility records and as-built.
  • Knowledgeable with CSA 22.3 No. 7-15 Underground Systems.
  • Knowledgeable with CSA 22.3 No. 1 – 15 Overhead Systems.
  • Knowledgeable with Ontario Regulation 22/04.
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2009.
  • Graduate of Civil Engineering technology, Electrical Engineering technology, or equivalent experience.
