Qualifications

Job description

The Design Technician is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and organizing basic engineering data. The technician will use this data to develop design layouts and all necessary engineering documentation for submission of completed functional design drawings by the deadline. This opportunity is with our Fibre to the Home (FTTH) Design Turnkey Team.

This role currently offers remote work, with occasional in-person meetings at our Vaughan office.

YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

• Liaise with project coordinators and facilitators to ensure quality drawings
• Develop, create, recommend, and standardize new drawings for multi-site applications
• Modify existing drawings to conform to current company standards
• Create CAD drawings from concept to final design, accurately scaled and detailed for approval
• Review and correct drawings to eliminate errors within deadlines
• Innovate to improve drawing quality and processes
• Interface with third-party organizations as required
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet company objectives

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

• Diploma in Civil Engineering, Electrical, or Architectural Technology preferred
• 1-2 years’ experience in civil engineering and fieldwork is an asset
• Experience in FTTH or related telecommunications fields is an asset
• Experience with Municipal Engineering Drawings is an asset
• Telecommunications experience, MS Visio, AutoCAD, Utility Design, QGIS skills are assets
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Version 2004 or higher
• Knowledge of CSA standards, especially CSA 22.3
• Ability to read site drawings
• Follow standard drawing and printing procedures as set by clients
• Strong planning and organizational skills to meet deadlines
