Job summary

Wright Tree Service of Canada is seeking a full-time Utility Arborist (UTT) to trim, prune and remove trees and branches near power lines and utility infrastructure. You will inspect areas around lines, work in urban and rural settings, and operate equipment such as chainsaws and aerial lifts.

The role requires CUAs/UTTs or eligibility, a valid Class 5 license, and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening. Benefits include medical/dental and potential employee ownership, with shifts Monday to

Qualifications

  • Certified Utility Arborist (CUA or UA) or able to challenge exam.
  • Basic knowledge of trees, including identification, growth habits and correct arboriculture techniques.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with less than 6 demerits.
  • Applicant must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Current First Aid with CPR or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to lift, move and maneuver up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis and up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather and environmental conditions.
  • Must adhere to the Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy.

Responsibilities

  • Trim, prune, and remove trees and branches that pose a risk to power lines, poles, and other utility infrastructure
  • Conduct regular inspections of areas around power lines to assess potential hazards posed by trees or branches
  • Work in both urban and rural environments, managing vegetation near overhead and underground utility lines
  • Use specialized techniques to safely bring down trees without damaging surrounding property, infrastructure, or utility equipment
  • Operate power tools and equipment such as chainsaws, pole saws, aerial lifts, chipper trucks, stump grinders, and cranes to perform tree trimming and removal
  • Train and supervise crew members to ensure that safety procedures are followed, especially when working around high-voltage electrical equipment
  • Maintain records of tree maintenance activities, including tree removal, pruning schedules, and any damage caused by vegetation to utility infrastructure
  • Track vegetation management progress and document completed work for utility records or regulatory compliance
  • Ensure work is done in compliance with environmental regulations, minimizing damage to natural habitats and wildlife
  • Other duties as required

Key Responsibilities
