Job summary

The City of North Vancouver is seeking a Utilities Engineer to join the Infrastructure, Transportation & Parks Department. You will help plan, deliver, and steward the city's utility infrastructure programs and projects, including water, sanitary and drainage systems, and related policies and standards.

You will lead utility master planning, hydraulic modelling, asset management, and capital planning, working with internal departments and external agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, registered or eligible for registration with EGBC, and a minimum of five years of related experience.
• Experience with hydraulic modelling, utility master planning, asset management programs, condition assessment and rehabilitation planning, and development servicing.
• Familiarity with PCSWMM, InfoWater Pro and ESRI GIS applications and the MMCD is desirable.
• A valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence is required.
• During the recruitment process, applicants will be requested to provide a current Police Information Check (PIC).

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and manage the City's utility infrastructure programs and projects.
• Provide utility master planning, hydraulic modelling, and long‑range infrastructure strategies for water, sanitary and drainage systems.
• Assist with capital planning, budgeting, and asset lifecycle management.
• Coordinate development servicing reviews and land development activities.
• Develop and modernize policies, bylaws, and design standards to enhance utility system performance and resilience.
• Deliver capital projects including design support, procurement, contract administration, and construction oversight.
