Unregulated Care Providers report to the Health and Wellness Manager and provide residents with physical and personal care needs to a high standard with sensitivity. Additionally, the Unregulated Care Provider demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing high-quality care in accordance with the organization's vision and mission.

Responsibilities:

• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) according to the care plan.
• Administer medication following relevant legislative requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
• Provide general housekeeping, laundry, and recreational activities.
• Display spontaneity and the ability to positively adapt to changing situations for residents.
• Monitor residents’ well-being, report changes to the supervisor, and respond to medical emergencies.
• Thoroughly document Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
• Ensure health and safety by following procedures and protocols.
• Assist with dining services.
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident information, including medication records.
• Deal courteously with team members, residents, families, and visitors.
• Provide emergency first aid/care until medical help arrives.
• Assist with resident admissions and discharges as needed.
• Complete medication administration training.
• Assist with medication administration to residents.
• Perform any other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• PSW or Health Care Aide Certification preferred.
• Experience in retirement or long-term care preferred.
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
• Empathy and understanding of seniors' needs.
• Good understanding of nursing and health/wellness processes.
• Willingness to stay updated on changing regulations and practices.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
• Ability to perform duties physically and mentally.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work well individually and in a team.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Clear vulnerable sector screening (within last 6 months), recent TB test or Chest X-ray (within last year), and two supervisory references.
