Job summary

Atomic Cartoons, a Blue Ant Studios company, seeks an experienced CG Supervisor to lead real-time 3D content creation on an Unreal-based project. We offer Vancouver/BC remote and hybrid options within British Columbia.

You will oversee pipelines bridging Maya and Unreal, supervise team quality, and collaborate with clients and leaders to define the technical and creative approach, ensuring on-time delivery with high production values across episodes.

Qualifications

• Prior CG Supervisor experience on an animated series or feature using Unreal Engine.
• Senior or supervisory experience in another capacity is an asset.
• Advanced proficiency with Unreal Engine; familiar with rendering, shading, sequencing and Blueprints.
• Knowledge of 3D software pipelines including Unreal, Maya, Katana, Houdini and Nuke.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical and artistic creation of real-time 3D content, virtual production and visual effects using Unreal Engine.
• Design and maintain real-time or hybrid pipelines to bridge Maya with Unreal.
• Collaborate with other teams to meet creative requirements and ensure quality on schedule.
• Attend regular meetings to communicate information with stakeholders.
• Monitor episodic progress, team output, and delivery timelines; flag delays or concerns.
• Work with show TDs and pipeline support to develop solutions and resolve issues.
• Oversee scene setup, asset importing, material/shader design, and real-time lighting; assess external shaders/plugins.
• Collaborate with client to understand project vision and Atomic’s capabilities.
• Define creative/technical approach and oversee it through the pipeline.
• Utilize Unreal Blueprints to establish custom tools and workflows.
• Profile, debug, and troubleshoot scenes for high framerates and performance budgets.
• Provide creative and technical feedback to all departments.
