Responsibilities

  • Receiving patients, visitors and hospital staff on the patient care unit
  • Responding to and referring telephone calls to appropriate personnel
  • Booking patient appointments (including transportation) and providing information related to patient care
  • Recording, organizing, inputting and filing physician orders in the computer
  • Ordering supplies
  • Participating in special projects as requested

The successful candidate will be responsible for both clerical and receptionist duties.Responsibilities will include:Receiving patients, visitors and/or hospital staff on the patient care unitResponding to and referring telephone calls to appropriate personnelBooking patient appointments (including transportation) and providing information related to patient care as authorized by the Manager or their delegateRecording, organizing, inputting and filing of physician orders in the computerOrdering of suppliesParticipating in special projects as requestedWhat you bring to the role:Previous unit secretary/medical clerical experience with preference to experience in a medical settingSound knowledge of medical terminologyProficient computer and typing skillsExperience with Meditech Expanse is preferredStrong customer service, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skillsAbility to prioritize and manage multiple demands in a fast pace environmentStrong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills with a high attention to detailExcellent organizational skillsDemonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independentlyDemonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standardDemonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as requiredWork Schedule:The successful candidate must be able to work Monday to Friday 10 hours Day shifts (0800-1800), Saturdays and Sundays 8 hours Day shift (0800-1600).Please note schedules may change due to operational needs.Compensation:CUP C03Range:$28.13 - $31.65Who we are:Oak Valley Health is one of Ontario’s leading community healthcare organizations.
