Job summary

Co-op Refinery Complex (CRC) in Regina, SK, is hiring two Unit Operations Engineers to support safe, reliable operation of one of Canada's largest oil refineries. The role requires a BSc in Engineering and EIT or P.Eng designation, with 1–6 years of related experience in heavy industrial settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and recommendations during upset, start-up, shutdown, and emergency operations.
  • Consult on unit specific issues with process licensors and suppliers to obtain detailed analysis.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize assigned process units by issuing operating orders to Process Operators for safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform routine thermodynamic, heat transfer, and hydraulic calculations to monitor asset performance (heat exchangers, pumps, piping).
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Maintenance and Inspection on equipment issues and repairs; support long-term mechanical issues.
  • Input to design, develop, and deliver projects, programs, systems, process technologies, equipment and products to meet customer needs.
  • Assist in completing process engineering calculations and simulations for work orders and capital projects.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings and perform unit safety audits.

The Co-op Refinery Complex (CRC) is hiring two Unit Operations Engineers on a permanent basis to work on-site in Regina, SK.

Are you looking to build your engineering career in a complex and dynamic operating environment? We are looking for a motivated EIT or P.Eng to join our Process Operations Team and play a key role in supporting the safe, reliable operation of one of Canada's largest oil refineries.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide technical support and recommendations on the course of action to be taken during periods of upset, start-up and shutdown, emergency operations, and during any experimental operations that may be carried out.
  • Consult regularly on unit specific issues with process licensors and suppliers such as chemical and catalyst vendors to obtain detailed analysis.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize assigned process units by issuing operating orders to Process Operators to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform routine thermodynamic, heat transfer, and hydraulic calculations to monitor and troubleshoot asset performance such as heat exchangers, pumps, and piping systems.
  • Co-ordinate with Engineering, Maintenance and Inspection on equipment issues and repairs and support the troubleshooting long term mechanical issues.
  • Provide input to design, develop, and deliver projects, programs, systems, process technologies, equipment, and products to meet customer needs.
  • Assist in completing process engineering calculations and process simulations to provide process specifications and other technical input as required for work orders and capital projects.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings and perform unit safety and safety related audits.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Operations Engineering and:

  • Have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • Have 1-6 years of related engineering experience, ideally within a heavy industrial environment (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
  • Have an EIT or P. Eng designation with a professional engineering association.
