Job summary

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a Unit Clerk to support hospital operations in a busy health care setting. The role involves admitting/discharge/transfer documentation, patient scheduling, and clerical coordination with the Health Records and Staffing offices.

The ideal candidate will have Grade 12 and Nursing Unit Clerk training, with strong typing, communication, and medical terminology skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 completion and Nursing Unit Clerk program completion, or equivalent.
• One year of related healthcare experience preferred.
• Proficient in medical terminology and charting practices.

Responsibilities

• Records admissions, discharges, and transfers and reports to Admitting Department per procedures.
• Performs reception duties: greet visitors, answer calls, route inquiries, and manage mail.
• Transcribes orders and schedules patient activities with the interdisciplinary team.
• Maintains patient/resident records and staff shift assignments, and handles clerical tasks.
• Supports payroll with timekeeping and staffing data as needed.
• Provides information to Manager on material and supply levels and requirements.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
