Job summary

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a Nursing Unit Clerk at Ridge Meadows Hospital. The role involves clerical support in patient care areas, transcribing physicians' orders, coordinating tests and appointments, and maintaining patient charts with accuracy and confidentiality.

You will handle communications, scheduling, and data entry while supporting clinical staff and leadership in a fast-paced health care environment.

Qualifications

• Grade 12, medical terminology and graduation of a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program, plus one year of recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Prioritizes, processes, coordinates and transcribes physicians' orders; enters information into the computer and distributes information.
• Schedules, books and coordinates patient appointments; arranges tests and maintains appointment diaries.
• Acts as a communication link with other facilities and departments; directs visitors and coordinates bed availability.
• Assembles and maintains patient charts; transcribes patient data; forwards discharged records to Health Records.
• Answers telephones, takes messages, handles routine inquiries; manages mail.
• Performs data entry, filing, statistics, supplies management and equipment repairs coordination.
• Maintains timekeeping records and handles vacation/leave requests for staff.
• Calls in relief nursing staff according to guidelines and reports issues to the manager.
