Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Unit Clerk for the 3E4 Surgery Program at the U of A Hospital in Edmonton. The role focuses on efficient communication, reception and patient records while handling physician orders and scheduling.

Candidates must be adaptable to fast-paced environments and maintain confidentiality. Required qualifications include Grade 12 or equivalent and completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Coordinate efficient communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality.
• Provide reception, greet and direct visitors and staff, and maintain patient records and charts.
• Transcribe and process physician orders and schedule tests or treatments.
• Support unit operations with a range of administrative activities.

Job description

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of one year of Acute Care and Connect Care experience required. Must be flexible and adaptable to work in a fast paced and changing environment. Must not have any restrictions to walk, push, pull, transfer, bend, and carry. CPR must be current. N95 fit tested. MyLearningLink modules must be up to date or in progress. Must be able to work to full scope of practice and have all required clinical competencies up to date.
