Job summary

CLIC, a leading Canadian financial services co-operative, is seeking a Group Underwriting Best Practices & Training Specialist to train and lead the Group Underwriting staff, developing guidelines, procedures, and QA programs.

You will stay current on industry trends, collaborate with management and other departments, and build strong relationships with clients and auditors while supporting change and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma or industry equivalent.
  • 5 years’ experience in Group Underwriting or strong Group Benefits knowledge.
  • Experience with developing & delivering adult learning programs.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Having or working towards Associate, Customer Service (ACS), Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and/or CEBS designation an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide training to all new and existing Underwriting staff.
  • Coordinate and facilitate training sessions, case studies and presentations to the Underwriting team as well as other Group Benefits departments and Sales teams.
  • Develop structured training programs that promote self-serve capabilities as well as enhance/modify existing programs to reflect the needs of the respective areas, procedures and learning styles.
  • Develop, facilitate and oversee a structured Quality Assurance program.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of underwriting guidelines, procedures, agreements and process manuals to ensure they are current, competitive and compliant with policies.
  • Monitor, communicate and support staff in understanding changes to existing procedures, projects or initiatives.
  • Build positive relationships and provide necessary support to both internal and external clients, departments, auditors and reinsurers.
