Personal Lines Underwriter - Remote Eligible

In this role, you will support Western's Customer Service Representatives by liaising with insurance specialists for accurate risk assessment, mitigation, and acceptance of new policies. You will collaborate with team members to maintain service standards and improve procedures for various insurance products.

Typical Daily Responsibilities
  1. Gather and assess risk information to determine eligibility for general insurance risks.
  2. Assist in developing new programs and maintaining current ones.
  3. Communicate with clients regarding policy issuance, changes, renewals, and cancellations.
  4. Interpret, advise, and validate coverage based on policy terms.
  5. Issue policy changes, renewals, and cancellations.
  6. Support internal departments and branches with policy interpretation and technical advice.
Valuable Skills and Qualifications
  • General Insurance Level 2 License required; CIP or CAIB preferred.
  • At least 1 year of underwriting experience is an asset.
  • Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Efficiency in retrieving customer data.
  • Participation in industry-related associations and community involvement.

Hours: 37.5 hours/week

Location: Victoria, BC / Cranbrook, BC / Remote (with proper licensing)

Salary Range: $51,000 - $91,000
